About Chemical Peels

Chemical peels work by exfoliating the skin's surface to reduce the appearance of blemishes, smooth skin texture, improve radiance and restore skin health. They are most effective at enhancing cell turnover and improving the appearance on the surface of the skin.

All peels are customized according to the patients' needs and will be determined at the time of treatment. All peels are recommended in a series of 3 or 6 treatments to achieve the desired results.

Available peels at RW Dermatology include BioRePeel, RW Red Carpet Treatment, Retinol Peel, Custom Peel, Micropeel, Acne Salicylic Peel, and RDS Exosome Peel.

FAQ

Common Questions

How do chemical peels work?

Chemical peels come in many different strengths and formulations ranging from superficial to deeper penetrating peels. Common peels include alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) for aging signs, beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) for blemishes and acne, and trichloroacetic acid (TCA) for advanced aging and discoloration from sun damage.

Is there downtime?

Downtime varies by peel type. Some have zero downtime, light peels involve minimal redness and flaking lasting days, medium peels result in approximately one week downtime with possible swelling, and deep peels may exceed one week with increased swelling, redness, and required sun avoidance.

How many do I need and how often?

A single peel provides a quick glow, but correction typically requires a three-peel series. Standard spacing is 4-6 weeks between peels, and RDS peels can be done every 2-4 weeks. Our medical aestheticians provide personalized guidance.
