Conformance status 

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. RW Dermatology is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. To achieve this, we take the following measures: 

● Scheduled Evaluations: Our team conducts comprehensive accessibility evaluations of our website at regular intervals. These evaluations occur monthly to catch and address any new issues as our site evolves and updates. 

● Diverse User Testing: We involve users with various disabilities in our testing process to gather feedback on the website's usability. This includes individuals who rely on screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, and other assistive technologies, ensuring our website is user-friendly for all.

Examples of technologies we test with include NVDA (Non-Visual Desktop Access) and JAWS (Job Access With Speech). 

● Professional Audits: In addition to our internal testing, we engage with accessibility experts to perform annual audits of our website. These professionals use the latest tools and standards to provide an in-depth analysis of our accessibility compliance. 

● Automated Testing Tools: We use a variety of automated testing tools to scan our website for accessibility issues. These tools help us identify areas for improvement that might not be caught through manual testing alone.

● Training and Awareness: Our development team receives ongoing training in accessibility standards and best practices. This ensures that new content and features are designed with accessibility in mind from the start. 

● Continuous Improvement: We continually seek ways to improve our website's accessibility. This includes keeping up to date with the latest accessibility standards and technologies. 

Limitations (and Alternatives) 

While we strive to make our website fully accessible to all users, there are currently some areas that do not meet our desired level of accessibility: 

● PDF Documents: Some of our PDF documents may not be fully accessible to screen reader software. These documents were created before our current accessibility standards were implemented: We are in the process of converting these documents into accessible HTML pages and expect to complete this soon. 

● Video Content: Not all video content has captions or audio descriptions. Our older videos were produced without these accessibility features. We are working to add captions and audio descriptions to all existing videos and will ensure all future videos include these from the outset.
